Chinese Proficiency Test
The Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK: Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) is the People’s Republic of China’s (PRC) standardized test of Chinese language proficiency administered by an agency of the Ministry of Education of China. The exam is administered solely in Mandarin and simplified Chinese characters and assesses non-native Chinese speakers listening, reading, and writing abilities.
Chinese Traditional
The Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL), under the direction of Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, is Taiwan’s (Republic of China) standardized language proficiency tests developed for non-native speakers of Chinese. This examination tests four language skills in traditional Chinese: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. (The exam cannot be taken in Mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macao, where only the PRC’s HSK exam can be taken. The HSK exam is NOT available in Taiwan.)
Thai (CU-TFL)
The Chulalongkorn University Thai Proficiency Test of Thai as a Foreign Language (CU-TFL) designed by The Sirindhorn Thai Language Institute at Chulalongkorn University is a standardized test to evaluate Thai language proficiency in speaking, reading, listening and writing skills. (*Note: Currently there is NO official Thai language examination administered and overseen by the Thai government or government agency over education.)
Japanese (JLPT)
The Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is offered by the Japan Foundation and Educational Exchanges and Services as a reliable means of evaluating and certifying the Japanese proficiency of non-native speakers. This examination covers language knowledge, reading ability, and listening ability.
Korean Topik
The Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) is administered by the National Institute for International Education of South Korea as way to guide those learning Korean as a second language and assess proficiency in the Korean language. The examination asses reading, listening, and writing.
